HOMELESSNESS IS A PROBLEM !
Homelessness
is a growing problem in America! I can’t
understand why this is such a problem, when there is such opportunity here in
America. People will blame it on immigrants taking jobs. Why this is true and a problem is because of
many illegal immigrants. We do have more opportunity here than any other
country on earth. When you go downtown
and you see the same people sitting on the street corner day after day, year
after year, people start to get
upset. Homelessness starts out as a
problem and becomes a life style for some.
Some people get stuck in the circle of sit on the street corner, make a
little money, buy cigarettes, sometimes alcohol, and then go back to the
nearest homeless shelter. Then they do
it all over again Not all homeless do this.
A percentage of them go out find ad jobs every day. Some walk 2 – 7 miles a day getting to work,
then head back to the shelter. I applaud
these men and women who do try to make it better. In the early 1900’s the country was exploding
with immigrants, just like it is now.
These immigrants would do anything to make it work in America. These immigrants are our ancestors. They were the glue that holds America
together. You know what would bring
America back to the top opening – more factories building things – like houses,
cars, and boots. Basically, if America
wants it, we make it. Stop imports and
start exporting You can’t make money on the back of another country. If we do this we sill start making progress
as a country and y will see less homelessness.
I came to this realization while at the homeless shelter. 80% of the homeless in Lincoln, NE, would
work if someone gave them a chance.
People are homeless for lots of reasons, some little , some huge, some
just stupid mistakes. You shouldn’t hate the homeless because it can happen to
anyone. Everyone likes to say it won’t
happen to me. But it can. It could be a house fire, a law suit, a car
accident, maybe your business got destroyed in a tornado. Maybe you were in prison for something your
girlfriend said you did, when you truly didn’t.
There are lots of reasons you can become homeless. But don’t ever say it won’t happen to me, and
don’t just give the homeless a handout but a hand up. If you give them a hand up the true homeless
will want to make things better and they will take it. Yes, some homeless people use the money to
give them to drink, that’s why you shouldn’t give money to the homeless . Give a meal, give clothing, give paper and
pencil so they can write. The biggest
thing you can give them is your non-judgmental ear. Go sit down next to that
man or woman panhandling and ask them about their life. Ask them how they got where they are and
where they are going. In this country
all people are about is money! You can’t
take money with you when you die. News
flash- build a better America for your grand kids and great grand kids so they
will live a better life. America is
worth my investment of time! Is it worth yours?
Give a reason for Americans to build business, give a tax cut for the
first five years, start out at no taxes and as the five years go on , depending
on how the business is doing creep up the taxes back up to normal by the fifth
year. This will help the business grow
so hopefully there will be less failing business and less homelessness.
